WHERE TO TRAVEL IN...NOVEMBER

As it gets colder and darker in the northern hemisphere, we all dream of jetting off somewhere exotic, or just different. Despite this, November is considered a low season for travel across many parts of the world, which is why it’s the perfect time to get away. It’s actually one of my favourite months to go on holiday, it’s a fabulous fillip once the clocks have gone back and it’s all getting a bit grim in the UK.

In terms of short haul beach breaks, it’s the usual suspects for winter sun – the Canaries, Cyprus or Malta all have good weather in November but not the scorching temperatures you can have earlier in the year. If you’re looking for hotter temperatures further afield and you want to travel East, it’s a great month to visit Thailand, Mauritius, the Maldives or the Seychelles. Or you can fly west to the Caribbean as Mexico and the West Indies both come back into play as it’s past hurricane season.

If you’re looking for a more active, touring holiday, November’s a great month to visit Argentina, India or Sri Lanka. And it’s the perfect time to visit Japan to see the spectacular colours of the autumn foliage. Further afield, it’s worth considering going on that Bucket List trip to Australia or New Zealand before peak season flight prices.

If you’re dreaming of a safari holiday, this is a great time to take advantage of low-season rates in Tanzania. Migrating herds start to travel south from Kenya, so you can often see river crossings in the north of the Serengeti. It’s also a good time for bird watching in Zimbabwe, where parks have become quieter despite the presence of both resident and migratory bird species.

For a short haul city break I’d recommend both Lisbon and Athens – both cities have quite mild temperatures in November, making sightseeing very pleasant. Or, if you’re not averse to chillier weather, the Christmas markets in some of Europe’s most scenic cities are a great draw - and you can combine seeing the sights with mulled wine-sipping and shopping for Christmas decorations. Get in touch, and let's plan you the perfect November getaway.
