ZANZIBAR
With its white sands and turquoise waters, the Zanzibar Archipelago is an ideal place to unwind following a safari in Tanzania. But it’s also a great holiday destination in its own right.
Zanzibar Island
Most people head for Zanzibar Island which has fabulous beaches and is also the location of historic Stonetown.
Indian Ocean
Spend your days snorkelling and diving among coral reefs, sailing on a traditional dhow and absorbing the Swahili culture or simply relaxing on a picture-postcard beach by the Indian Ocean.
Rich History
Once a hub for spice traders, history here goes back 2,000 years – and Zanzibar is a melting pot of cultures with a blend of African, Indian, Asian, and European influences.

TRAVEL GURU SUMMARY
There's more to the Zanzibar than stunning white beaches and I'd definitely recommend a visit to Stonetown. Although the main island of Zanzibar is most people's choice, there are other islands in the archipelago such as Pemba that are worth considering for a get-away-from-it-all beach holiday.
DONT MISS...
Explore the alleyways of historic Stonetown and visit the market where you’ll see hessian sacks overflowing with black pepper, turmeric, cinnamon and vanilla and piles of fresh ginger, chillies and nutmeg.
