WHERE TO TRAVEL IN...MAY.

Updated: Feb 7

The weather in Southern Europe’s starting to get quite warm as we move into May, and with many hotels offering decent rates for early season bookings, this can be an ideal time for a beach break in the Greek Islands such as Crete, Mykonos and Santorini.

Not quite as warm, but a fabulous place to visit at this time of year, is Sicily – with fabulous beaches and plenty of historic sites and picturesque villages to visit if you tire of sunbathing. May is also a great time of year to go on that Bucket List cruise around the Norwegian fjords.

Further afield, May is perfect for a stay in the Bahamas or the lovely beaches on Sri Lanka’s East which won't be suffering from the monsoon season. If a beach holiday’s not for you and you prefer a more active holiday with interesting places to explore, May’s a good time to visit Vietnam, Peru or the Galapagos Islands – the weather will be fine and you can avoid the crowds as well as peak season prices.

If it’s a safari you’re looking for, May is an ideal time to visit any of Botswana’s main safari reserves. It’s the start of the dry season but costs are reasonable at this time of year.

For a short city break, I’d recommend Rome, Barcelona or Lisbon – where you’ll be able to explore these fascinating cities with lovely warm weather. For a long haul city break, New York, New Orleans and Washington are great options for this time of year.

Whatever kind of holiday you're looking for, get in touch and let’s sort out your May holiday.
