WHERE TO TRAVEL IN...AUGUST

Of course, you’ll have a choice of any Mediterranean destination if you’re looking for a short haul beach break this month. If the beach isn’t your bag, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland offer fabulous scenery and pleasant weather. For beach holidays further afield, consider Mauritius or Koh Samui in Thailand. Whilst the rest of southern Thailand is experiencing the rainy season, Koh Samui has great weather in August. Or head to the East Coast of Sri Lanka - beaches here are at their best this month.

For wildlife, in Kenya and Tanzania, August is the time for migration safaris when river crossings, and the most spectacular mass wildlife spectacles take place. And this is a great month to visit Brazil’s Pantanal - the dry, warm conditions draw wildlife to the rivers and lagoons, making for some excellent sightings of birdlife, primates and, if you’re lucky, apex predators like jaguars.

If you’re looking for an adventure, August is a good month to head to Peru or to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands – in fact it’s quite easy to combine both these fascinating countries in a single holiday if you have the time for an extended 3-week trip.

If you just fancy a quick city break, how about visiting one of Europe’s more northern capital cities? Stockholm is a lovely city, and there are numerous boat trips you can take to nearby islands in the archipelago in the milder weather. Tallinn is also a charming place to spend a few days, with its historic old town and cobbled streets and some fabulous restaurants.

Whatever you have in mind for a holiday in August, get in touch and let's get the ball rolling.
