I’ve had a few interesting questions this week — the kind where there isn’t one obvious answer, just a better direction once you unpick them a bit.
𝘘: 𝘞𝘦’𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘭 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘋𝘶𝘣𝘢𝘪 𝘪𝘯 𝘑𝘶𝘯𝘦. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵? 𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘭.
A: If you’re looking for heat and a bit of a ‘treat’ feel in June without going long haul, there are still some good options. Tunisia is well worth considering — you can get some really good quality hotels for the price, and it works very well at that time of year. Madeira is a good option if you’d prefer something greener and more scenic, but if it’s proper warmth and beach time you’re after, Tunisia would be the better fit.
𝘘: 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐’𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤 — 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵?
A: If you’re open to travelling a bit further, Bali is a really good option at that time of year. It gives you that “proper trip” feel — great hotels, interesting scenery, a bit of culture — and tends to offer much better value than the Maldives. It’s a longer journey, but you get a very different experience for your money.

𝘘: 𝘐’𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘖𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘳 — 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥?
A: Honestly, I wouldn’t. October is right in the middle of hurricane season, and while you might be lucky, it’s not something I’d usually recommend planning a trip around. If you’re looking for that kind of ‘treat’ holiday — good weather, great hotels, proper switch-off time — you’re much better looking at somewhere like Mauritius instead.
𝘘: 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘪, 𝘒𝘦𝘯𝘺𝘢 𝘰𝘳 𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘻𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘢?
A: Both are excellent, but they offer slightly different experiences. Kenya is often the easier starting point — particularly around the Masai Mara, where you’ve got a high concentration of wildlife and relatively straightforward logistics. Tanzania tends to feel a bit more varied, but it can involve more moving around. It usually comes down to how you want the trip to feel, and how much you’re looking to spend.

𝘘: 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐’𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘶𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵. 𝘞𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺?
A: Yes - but you need to be quite specific about where you go. It's the rainy season in much of Thailand at that time of year, but Koh Samui and the Gulf islands tend to work well, with better weather than the west coast. This is one where choosing the right area makes all the difference.
If you’ve got a question of your own, feel free to get in touch. It’s usually much easier to talk things through on a call…and I don’t bite.
