Every year, as soon as the New Year streamers hit the floor, everyone’s inbox gets absolutely flooded with “too good to be true” holiday offers. And because I genuinely want my clients to travel smarter (not just cheaper), I thought I’d share a heads-up before the January deal storm arrives. Travel companies know that this is the moment everyone starts dreaming of sunshine again. They also know that after Christmas, a “huge discount” feels extra tempting. So, January becomes a month of flashing banners, countdown clocks and “only 2 rooms left!” - all designed to make you click book now before you’ve had a moment to breathe. But here’s the honest truth: not all January holiday deals are actually what they seem. THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩. Those “ends at midnight” offers often reappear like clockwork the next day.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 “𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘦” 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦. Some discounts are based on prices that were never actually charged.

𝘓𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺. Headline prices can lock you into non-changeable, non-refundable bookings.

𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘴. Baggage, transfers, room upgrades, resort fees… the true cost isn’t always in the ad.

𝘙𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦. The stunning suite rarely matches the basic room included in the deal.

𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺. That cheaper deal can mean losing a day to 1am arrivals or awkward take-offs.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭. “Fabulous savings” on holidays to the Caribbean in September/October (hurricane season) or to Thailand in May/October (rainy season) or Mauritius in January/March (cyclone season). You might save money, but you’re unlikely to get the holiday you’re hoping for. MY PROMISE TO YOU. I’ll always be upfront and honest about what’s good value and what isn’t. I’ll never send you into a booking feeling unsure or rushed. My goal is for you to feel confident, informed, and excited — not overwhelmed by pushy sales tactics. And remember that value isn’t just about paying less. Value is:

  • Knowing someone’s there to guide you

  • Having support long after you’ve clicked “book”

  • Help if plans change or life throws a curveball

  • Feeling looked after, not left on your own

  • Travelling with peace of mind, not crossed fingers

If that’s the kind of holiday planning you want — calm, clear, and with someone who genuinely has your back — I’m here when you’re ready. Get in touch.
