MEXICO
Most UK visitors visit Mexico for the white sand beaches of the Yucatan Peninsula. Some even travel to the Pacific Coast to popular resorts such as Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. But away from the beach, there’s so much more to Mexico if you like to explore.
Chichen Itza
If you’re staying at the beach near Cancun, there’s Chichen Itza – the world-famous Mayan site. You can't climb the temple any more, but it's still an impressive sight. And there are Mayan and Aztec sites to be found all across Mexico.
Vibrant Cities
There are fascinating cities to explore - frenetic Mexico City, picturesque Merida and lovely Oaxaca amongst them. And there are small, sleepy colonial towns which grew up around silver mining.
Copper Canyon Railway
Ride the vertiginous Copper Canyon Railway in the North West of the country – it’s one of the world’s most spectacular train journeys (and on my Bucket List!)
