MAURITIUS
This beautiful island is famed for its sapphire waters, powder-white beaches and luxury resorts. But there’s more to Mauritius than the beach, and it's the kind of place that rewards even the smallest attempts at exploration.
Fabulous Beaches
There are beautiful beaches whichever part of the island you choose to stay. In the South West is the Le Morne peninsula where the beach has the gorgeous backdrop of Le Morne Mountain. There are the endless stretches of white sand o the island's East Coast. And in the North there are picturesque sandy coves.
Water-Based Action
Mauritius offers world-class diving and snorkelling offshore and most resorts offer a range of watersports. Or take a boat trip around the coast and swim with dolphins.
Explore the Island
Hire a car or book excursions to botanical gardens and colonial plantation houses. Visit a rum distillery or go hiking in Black River Gorges National Park. Take a stroll around Grand Baie with its lively harbour and boutiques and restaurants.
Fabulous Cuisine
Mauritius is a fantastic culinary destination - food here is a fusion of Indian, French, African and Chinese influences. So you can expect to see biryanis, spring rolls and Creole rougaille curries on the menu.
