AUSTRALIA
Australia’s landscapes range from tropical rainforests to the red deserts of the Outback via vineyards, surf beaches and cosmopolitan cities. And with internal flights, you can experience many of these places within the same trip. But my advice is to focus on one part of this enormous country and explore it properly rather than spending too much of your holiday on a plane.
South East Australia
Many of Australia's highlights can be visited in a trip around the South East of the country. For example, on my last trip I concentrated on the South East - and in 18 leisurely days I was able to explore Sydney and the Blue Mountains, Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road and even managed a couple of days on fabulous Kangaroo Island.
Tasmania
If you're a nature lover, the island-state of Tasmania could be just the place for you. It’s a destination in its own right, with a combination of wildernesses and wildlife. The landscapes on the western side are green mountains and highland lakes while on the East there are huge cliffs and fabulous beaches that rival any you'll find on the mainland. The food here is some of the best you'll find in Australia - so foodies will be happy!
Western Australia
Australia's largest state, Western Australia is definitely worth considering - particularly for a second-time visit. There's a glorious coastline and the spectacular scenery of places such as Kalbarri and the Bungle Bungle Range. Not forgetting Margaret River and its scenic vineyards.
Great Barrier Reef
Your time in this fabulous part of the world can be as lazy or as active as you want. There are plenty of spots where you can swim, snorkel or dive. Take a boat trip, visit remote islands on a cruise around the Whitsundays, or take a helicopter flight. Explore away from the coast and hike through dense forests. The world is your oyster!
