AMALFI COAST
This area in Italy is one of my favourite places. The scenery is spectacular, with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and picture postcard fishing villages.
Mount Vesuvius,
Herculaneum & Pompeii
Not only is there fabulous scenery, but there are interesting places to visit - such as Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum and Pompeii - as well as picturesque small towns along the coast and in the hills beyond.
Amalfi Coast
Visit jet-set favourite Positano, a pastel-coloured cascade of chic boutiques. Further east, Amalfi attracts visitors with its Arabic-Norman cathedral and the quaint village of Ravello offers amazing coastal views.
Sorrento
A perennial favourite is the lively and charming clifftop town of Sorrento with its many boutiques and restaurants.

TRAVEL GURU SUMMARY
Granted, this is not the place to come for fine sandy beaches, but it’s a wonderful area to spend a holiday in the sun. And of course, this being Italy, the food is fabulous. Consider splitting your stay on the mainland with some time on the glamorous island of Capri or its quieter neighbour Ischia.
